What a fantastic ride The Block has been!
In a first for the reality renovation program in Australia, contestants Courtney and Hans used Wilson Agents and Gavl to help sell their apartment at 2/34 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda.
Wilson Agents lead agent Jesse Raeburn said: “At Wilson Agents, we’ve been using Gavl in our auctions for some time and have been highly impressed with its benefits and convenience for all parties – particularly among investors. As a result, we didn’t have to think twice about using Gavl for this auction on The Block, as our past experiences have shown that it will draw a greater bidding audience and thereby help increase the sales price.”
With one opportunistic and tech-savvy buyer wanting to remain anonymous, Gavl was the perfect platform for her to watch and bid on Courtney and Hans’ fantastic property. A St Kilda resident already, she placed her bids from an office nearby, kicking proceedings off with $2.2 million opening bid.
Unfortunately, our Gavl bidder was quickly outbid by the onsite buyers – with the apartment eventually selling for $2.77m. In a romantic twist, apartment 2 at The Gatwick was sold to the previous original owners of the re-vamped hotel, Rose Banks and Yvette Kelly.
After selling the original Gatwick Hotel to Channel 9 before this season’s reality show, Yvette and Rose bought back their new slice of The Gatwick in the “perfect end” to the show, as described by host Scotty Cam.
